General Info & Services

Patrons must come into the library and fill out and sign a “Resident” or “Visitor” Patron Borrower Card Application form to register for a library card. There is also online Patron Registration for a temporary card here. Patrons will still need to come into the library to get a permanent card. Library cards are issued free of charge. Patrons must provide proof of identity and residence. A drivers’ license, state identification card, or student ID may be used, or library staff may verify residence using the guidelines from the Wisconsin Proof of Residence for Voter Registration guide (elections.wi.gov/publications/voter-guides/proof-of-residence). The person whose signature is on the card application is responsible for all materials borrowed from the library under that library card number according to the policies of the lending library. Birthdate is required on application forms. Applicants under 18 years of age or adults with a legal guardian or caregiver must have a parent, guardian, or other adult serve as the responsible party for the card. The responsible party is ultimately responsible for any late fees or lost materials on the card and must provide contact information and sign the card application form. Library cards expire after one year. Cards may be renewed after verification of application information. Patrons with lost cards should notify the library as soon as possible and request a replacement card. There is a $2.00 fee for each new card.

You can request materials from the library in person during regular library hours, by phone at 715-385-2050 or through our online catalog at this link.  You will need a valid library card from the Boulder Junction Public Library or any other library in the Northern Waters Library System.

The Boulder Junction Public Library belongs to the Northern Water Library Network with access to thousands of items through the shared online library catalog. With a library card, patrons can directly request, renew, and check the status of items either checked out or on hold.

Boulder Junction Public Library patrons have access to over 725,000 items in our shared online catalog using inter-library loan.  If an item you're looking for is not on our shelf or we don't own it, we can find the item at another library (either in our system, somewhere else in the state or even in another state) and have the item shipped to our library.  You just have to come in and check it out!  You can order items in person, over the phone or through the online catalog.  Ask for assistance if you've never used this service before!

There are two ways patrons can use the Internet at the Boulder Junction Public Libary.

First, you can use one of our five public access computers for adults or two public access computers for children.  Use of computers is available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, to ensure free access for all, library staff reserves the right to set a 30-minute time limit on computer use sessions.  You need a library card or temporary visitor card to use the computers.  When all computers are being used, Pharos time management software creates a wait list.  Please read the library's Computer and Internet Use Policy.

Second, the Boulder Junction Public Library provides unfiltered wireless Internet access to library patrons.  The library's WiFi is available 24/7 inside the community center building and outside in the parking lot.  There is no password required.  Simply connect to "publiclibrary" network.  Please read the library's Wireless Internet Access Policy.

The library now uses the software "Princh" to print from wireless devices.  More info on this page: https://www.boulderjunctionlibrary.org/new-princh-wireless-printing-solution/

The Boulder Junction Public Library has a copier available for public use which prints both black & white and color copies.  The copier can print 8 1/2 x 11, 8 1/2 x 14, 11 x 17 and two-sided sheets of paper.

Black and White Copies:

  • $.15 per B/W one-sided 8 ½ x 11 or 8 ½ x 14 sheet of paper
  • $.30 per B/W two-sided 8 ½ x 11 or 8 ½ x 14 sheet of paper or one-sided 11 x 17 sheet

Color Copies

  • $.30 per color one-sided 8 ½ x 11 or 8 ½ x 14 sheet of paper
  • $.60 per color two-sided 8 ½ x 11 or 8 ½ x 14 sheet of paper or one-sided 11 x 17 sheet

Scanned Copies

  • You can also scan a document and send it to your email for $.15 per sheet.

Payment should be given to the circulation desk librarian.  Patrons should make only authorized copies of copyrighted data.   Patrons are responsible for all copies made unless the copier/printer made the mistake.  Please use print preview to view your document before you print so that you do not make copies you do not want – you still have to pay for them even if they weren’t necessary.  Ask a librarian or volunteer for help with printing if you are unsure which pages you would like to print.  The copier is networked to all five public computers and serves as the printer as well.  You must ask a staff member for assistance with color printing.

The Boulder Junction Public Library has areas with tables/chairs for the public to quietly sit and read, study, work, or use our WiFi; however, these areas are open to the public and not private. If you need a private study/office space, you will have to go through our town clerk to reserve one of the building's community meeting rooms. You can call the town clerk at 715-385-2220 for questions or to reserve a room. More information about the meeting rooms can also be found on the town's website at https://townofboulderjunction.org/community-center-information/.
