Challenged Materials Policy
Purpose
The Boulder Junction Public Library selects materials carefully for the community based on our Collection Development Policy. However, there can arise a difference of opinion regarding suitable materials. Patrons requesting that materials be withdrawn or restricted within the collection should follow the following steps.
Policy
1. All concerns should be filed in writing using the “Statement of Concern about Library Resources” (Appendix A) form available at the circulation desk. Please mail or deliver the form to the attention of the library director.
2. A written response stating the library director’s position will be mailed within two working days of receipt of the concern.
3. If the director’s response is found unsatisfactory, an appeal can be made to the Boulder Junction Public Library board of trustees.
4. The library board will discuss the concern at the next scheduled board meeting, normally held on the second Thursday of the month unless legally posted otherwise. The decision of the library board is final.
