December Art in the Library Exhibit

The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their December Art in the Library exhibit featuring local artist, Susie Wilsie-Govier. The exhibit will begin on Friday, December 6.

A born day dreamer, local artist Susie Wilsie-Govier believes in creating. Her pieces on display during the month of December are expressions of creations that are accessible to everyone. For Govier, three areas have dominated her process, treasure hunting, storytelling and artistic expression.

Susie Wilsie-Govier is a retired Interior Designer and native of Boulder Junction. Her career in commercial interior design covered various types of environments but concentrated in educational, municipal and most recently, hospitality design projects.

Retiring as Director of Interior Design and partner in an international hospitality firm in 2018, Wilsie-Govier spent three years assisting her husband in running their successful local business startup the “Aqualand Ale House” which they sold in 2021.

Now enjoying the opportunity to invest time in her three loves, Govier has taught wine and paint classes and designed and sold local custom paint by number sets. Her current exploration of assemblage art and collage is bookended by hours spent staring at the first draft of her novel, which at its current pace may be ready to publish at some point in the next millennium.

The message Govier wishes to leave visitors with is to create- now. Don’t worry about your ability, explore the creative side of your being, and give yourself permission to enjoy it. Play a little, try a class, write a story, silence the voices in your head and find your heart!
