July 11 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Boulder Junction Public Library presents local author, naturalist and educator,  John Bates, on Thursday, July 11, 7 pm, at the Boulder Junction Community Center. Bates will present “Ecological Gems: Best Paddling and Hiking in North Central Wisconsin (Forest, Vilas, Oneida, Iron, Price Counties).”

What are some of the best places to hike and paddle in the Northwoods? Hear naturalist John Bates’ admittedly biased list and why he chose them. Come share your own thoughts as well, and at the end hopefully walk out with some new ideas on where to go.

John Bates is the author of ten books and a contributor to eight others, all of which focus on the natural history of the Northwoods. He’s worked as a naturalist in Wisconsin’s Northwoods for over 33 years, leading an array of trips and giving talks all designed to help people further understand the remarkable diversity and beauty of nature, and our place within it.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. John will be selling and signing books after the program. For questions and further information, please call the library at 715-385-2050 or email [email protected].
