July 13 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes popular local author, Victoria Houston, on Saturday, July 13, 10:30am, at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park Street.
Victoria Houston is the author of 19 books in the Loon Lake Mystery Series and three books in the Lew Ferris Mystery Series. The mysteries are set in the Northwoods of Wisconsin against a background of fishing – fly fishing as well as fishing for muskie, bass, bluegill and walleyes. Houston’s mystery series was featured in a story on the front page of The Wall Street Journal (January 20, 2004) and on NPR’s “Talk of the Nation with Neal Conan” (February 2, 2006). Both can be seen/heard on the website: www.victoriahouston.com.
Houston was born and raised in Rhinelander, WI, in the heart of the fishing culture that backgrounds her mysteries. She’s always had an aptitude for writing and won a full scholarship to Bennington College in Vermont. She went on to have three children, marry and divorce twice.
After a decade of magazine and newspaper feature writing – the source of her non-fiction books — she directed promotion and publicity for Andrews & McMeel/Universal Press Syndicate during which time she had the privilege of working with outstanding writers and cartoonists such as Abigail Van Buren, Gary Larson, Erma Bombeck and Garry Trudeau. Later she joined Jane Mobley Associates, a public relations firm based in Kansas City.
Houston moved back to Rhinelander in 1996 after having been gone for over 30 years. She hunts, fishes, and write mysteries. Over the years, she has published over 29 books.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Houston will be selling and signing books after the program. For questions and further information, please call the library at 715-385-2050 or email [email protected].
