Forest Foraging 101 – Edibles of the Northwoods

August 8 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Forest Foraging

The Boulder Junction Public Library invites the community to join us for “Forest Foraging 101 – Edibles of the Northwoods” with Naturalist, Jenna Richardson, from the North Lakeland Discovery Center on Thursday, August 8, 7pm, in the Boulder Junction Community Center.

Naturalist Jenna will take us on a journey through a year’s phenological calendar where together we will explore plant and fungus species that can be foraged throughout the year in the greater Northwoods region. Additionally, participants will be invited to learn about proper foraging techniques, cautions to consider while foraging, and recipes.

Jenna Richardson has been working at the North Lakeland Discovery Center as a Naturalist since May 2023. She previously worked as a Naturalist in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota and Yellowstone National Park. Jenna has been foraging for the last 10 years and loves spending her free time in the woods looking for wild edibles.

This program is free and open to everyone. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 715-385-2050 or email [email protected].
