Needle Felted Coaster Class

February 13 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

The Boulder Junction Public Library will be offering a Needle Felted Coaster Class on Tuesday, February 13 from 1:30 pm to 4 pm. Participation is free, but registration is required, and class size is limited to 15 people. The class will be held in the Boulder Junction Community Center Dairymen’s Meeting Room.

Join local artist and crafter, Darcy Lanz-Sage for this needle felted coaster class. Needle felting is the process of repeatedly poking wool fluff with special needles to create felt and felted objects. Make your own set of 4 coasters: either round or square, on pre-felted wool. Darcy has a wide array of fibers that you will be able to create designs with using felting needles. Machine or hand stitching can also be used, if desired, for embellishment. All tools and materials provided. If participants sew and have a sewing machine, they can bring it along.

Darcy Lanz-Sage is an artist and art educator. She is a recently retired art teacher from the Madison, Wisconsin area. She has been teaching art to people of all ages for over 40 years. Her interest in artmaking began at a very early age and her experience with different media is vast.

Darcy’s most recent explorations involve the surface decoration of fabrics and paper, using a variety of techniques. She loves texture and layering and gets most of her inspiration from observing nature. Over the years, Darcy has participated in a variety of art fairs, shows, and exhibits; and has sold items in numerous shops. She has been published in Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine, Quilting Arts Magazine, and Interweave’s special publication devoted to journal making, called PAGES.

Participation is free, but registration is required, and class size is limited to 15 people. To register for the class, please call the library at 715-385-2050.
