New Book Walk Unveiling
June 8 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 pm
The library will be unveiling a permanent Book Walk on Saturday, June 8 at 10am at the Boulder Junction Sports & Recreation Park/Playground in conjunction with the Park Board’s Hoopalooza basketball court fundraising event. The Friends of the Library purchased permanent book walk stands which were installed by the Boulder Junction Park Board volunteers in May.
The library will have 2-page spreads of the book mounted in the new permanent book stands. The Book Walk will begin at the library’s Reading Garden then continue to the skate park and on to the playground and around the ballfield walking trail. There will be arrows on stands where needed to point readers in the right direction to the next stand.
The book the library has chosen for the Book Walk is I Have a Superpower by Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry’s journey to the NBA wasn’t easy. Coaches and recruiters repeatedly told him he was too small to make it in the big leagues. But Stephen used their doubts to shape his ever-positive attitude and fuel his own underdog success story. Now, Curry pens an original story to inspire the next generation of go-getters and big dreamers. I Have a Superpower is the empowering story that teaches kids you don’t have to be the strongest, fastest, or even tallest kid out on the court. So long as you have heart, any goal is achievable through hard work and determination—even without a cape!
