“Paddlin’ with Thoreau” A Repeat Presentation with Mary Anne Smrz
September 7 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
The Boulder Junction Public Library presents “Paddlin’ with Thoreau”, a repeat presentation with Mary Anne Smrz on Thursday, September 7 at 10:30 am at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park Street. Local author and kayak paddler, Mary Anne Smrz, brings Henry David Thoreau’s wisdom and insights alive in her newest book, Paddlin’ with Thoreau, her fourth book in the Reflections from the Red Kayak series. Smrz will discuss her book and her personal journey to Thoreau’s sacred places in New England.
Mary Anne Smrz is an avid kayaker who uses insights gained on the water to enrich her own life and the lives of others. She finds depth and meaning in her life from the solitude of kayaking and spending time in the restorative sanctuary of the natural world.
As a photojournalist and natural philosopher, Mary Anne shares her thoughts and musings while kayaking, taking others on an insightful inner journey. In her own quest for authenticity, she encourages others to find the same.
In her Reflections from the Red Kayak series, she offers insights on how lessons learned on the water help us all to navigate the uncharted waters of life. Her other books in the series include Reflections from the Red Kayak: Thoughts on Life, A Season on the Water and Change: Our Ever-Present Companion. Visit her website at www.redkayak.net. She writes from her home in northern Wisconsin.
The program is free and open to the public. Mary Anne will be selling copies of her book and all proceeds will go to the library. She will also do book signing. Refreshments will be served. For questions and further information, please call the library at 715-385-2050 or email [email protected].
