An Expedition of the Blue Nile in Ethiopia
July 1 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Brian Doss will present a travelogue on “An Expedition of the Blue Nile in Ethiopia” on Monday, July 1st, 7:00 pm, at the Boulder Junction Community Center.
Brian will be presenting a slide show presentation on his 5-week expedition of the Blue Nile and its traverse of Ethiopia. The journey begins at the headwaters of The Blue Nile in Lake Tana and Tissisat (great smoking water) Falls. Here the water is a steep creek with large waterfalls and narrow gorges. The journey ends at the Sudanese border some 916km downstream and the site of the nearly completed GERD dam. This was one of the first ever full expeditions of the whitewater of the Blue Nile and will be one of the last due to the imminent damming of the river. Come experience the beauty and danger of this wild place.
Brian formed his love of nature on Trout Lake in Boulder Junction and has since searched out adventure in North and South America, Australia, Europe, and Africa. He lives in Buena Vista, Colorado.
All members of the public are welcome to attend this free presentation and refreshments will be served. For more information, please call the library at 715-385-2050.
