Solving a Brick Wall with DNA – a Case Study

June 4 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Northern Waters Genealogical Society invites you to their next meeting on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, 6-7 pm, at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park Street with a Zoom option available. A brief business meeting will follow.

This month’s program is “Solving a Brick Wall with DNA – a Case Study” featuring virtual speaker, Larry W. Thomas. Learn how DNA testing, along with traditional genealogy research techniques, call help solve a brick wall. Larry used both Mitochondrial and Autosomal DNA to prove a great grandmother’s maternal line. When no paper trail gives answers, sometimes we can turn to DNA to provide the proof of the relationship and then introduce new documentary evidence to draw a valid conclusion. In this case, Larry’s maternal grandmother’s parents were a complete mystery but he was able to conclude who her mother and grandparents were using DNA and documented evidence.

Larry W. Thomas has over 30 years of experience doing genealogy research and ten years of experience helping clients. A member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), Larry abides by the ethics and standards outlined by the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG). Larry offers personalized research. As a member of the Genealogy Speakers Guild, he a brings a unique approach to genealogy presentations.

This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information or to register for a Zoom option, please call 715-686-7339.
