Free Art Classes
The library is offering free art classes this winter to help cure your cabin fever and wipe away your winter wearies!
The library will be offering a Mindful Mandalas Class on Tuesday, February 28 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Participation is free, but registration is required, and class size is limited to 15 people. The class will be held in the Boulder Junction Community Center.
Mindfulness is the act of bringing one’s attention back to the present moment–continuously and without judgement. The mind’s habit is to shuttle us from reflecting on the past, to worrying about the future, causing us to spend very little time focused on the present. This disconnection with our present reality has become more severe with the advent of smartphones, the high levels of stress in our modern day lives, and trauma in our communities.
Creating Art is a natural way to practice mindfulness. Come experience a fun way to meditate through art while creating a mandala. You don’t need any previous training; just a willingness to draw as a child draws, with freedom and a sense of curiosity. Activate your creativity while relaxing your mind and body! All materials are provided.

Participation is free, but registration is required, and class size is limited to 15 people. To register for the class, please call the library at 715-385-2050.
RESCHEDULED TO MARCH 2ND! The library will be offering an Intuitive Painting Class on Thursday, March 2 from 1pm to 4 pm. Participation is free, but registration is required, and class size is limited to 15 people. The class will be held in the Boulder Junction Community Center.
During Frances Whitfield’s class, students will alternate between applying cool and warm colors, allowing images to emerge. This is an exercise in freeing outcomes. It is a calming process which lends itself well to mindful self-care and indulgence. All materials are included in this class. No artistic talent is needed. Students will create two paintings. It is recommended that students wear a covering over their clothing to protect it from paint.
