July Art in the Library

The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their July Art in the Library exhibit with watercolor paintings from the “Manitowish Watercolorists” – a group of watercolor enthusiasts who have been meeting weekly for several years under the tutelage and direction of Melinda Schnell.

Their artwork will be on display throughout the library during regular business hours. The public is invited to meet the artists at a reception to be held on Saturday, July 6 from 11am-1pm in the library. The event is free and refreshments will be served.

Melinda “Mindy” Schnell is an accomplished watercolor artist for whom the medium of watercolor still holds a fascination after 40 years of painting. Inspired by Irving Shapiro, her teacher at The American Academy of Art in Chicago, her work demonstrates an enthusiasm for watching water and color mix together in unexpected ways and especially for playing with refracted light.

Watercolor, Mindy consistently reminds her students, requires patience, practice, and perhaps above all, a sense of humor! This, and her bottom-line educational philosophy to “Enjoy the Journey,” are reflected in the work you see hanging in this exhibit.
