July Art in the Library Exhibit

The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their July “Art in the Library” exhibit featuring astrophotography by Kate Reichl. Kate’s artwork will be on display throughout the library during regular business hours.

On Thursday, July 21 from 6-7 pm, Kate will have an Artist’s Reception in the library with the opportunity to view her photography on display as part of the “Art in the Library” July exhibit. Then at 7 pm, Kate will be discussing “The Northern Lights in the Northwoods” in the Boulder Lake Meeting Room. Kate will share how she captures images of the northern lights right here in the Northwoods. Along with the northern lights, she also photographs the milky way, comets, and other celestial objects.  Her landscapes showcase locations all around the Northwoods of Wisconsin, especially our many lakes. Both events are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Kate Reichl’s focus is astrophotography, which is photos of the night sky along with all the things in it such as the Northern Lights and planets. Her landscapes showcase locations all around the Northwoods of Wisconsin, especially our many lakes. The landscapes combined with the night sky share a true Northern Wisconsin night.

Kate is a graduate of The University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee where she studied film and photography. She has won numerous awards for her photography and has been featured in galleries and magazines throughout Wisconsin. She has also won awards for her films and has been selected multiple times to screen at film festivals across the world.

Kate recently returned from Iceland, where she had been living while working on a documentary about avalanche survivors in the town of Ísafjörður. Here she was also able to work on astrophotography and capturing the northern lights.

Her love for astrophotography started at home on Plum Lake, where she was always fascinated with the night sky. She wanted to be able to capture that beauty and share it with others who aren’t lucky enough to experience it in person. Astrophotography remains her main focus in photography, and documentary her main focus in film.
