June Art in the Library Exhibit
The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their June “Art in the Library” exhibit featuring the North Lakeland Student “Play” Art Contest held in conjunction with the Boulder Junction Community Playground Project. The 10 first-place grade level award winners will be on display in the library reading room.
The students at North Lakeland were giving the challenge to create a small piece of artwork based on the word “Play.” Students in all grade levels were given the same 9×12 template with the word “PLAY” and were instructed to artistically interpret what the word means to them.
Local artist, Joan Christgau, was one of the judges who chose the top 10 submissions with one winner from each grade level. Each first-place grade level winner was awarded a family pass to the “Come Play Together” Carnival and Concert fundraiser being held on Saturday, June 18 from 11am to 6:30pm.
The winners of the contest were 4k – Josephine Mumford; 5k – Maya Lawrence; 1st grade – Levi Moore; 2nd grade – Ivy Fritz; 3rd grade – Abigail Fieweger; 4th grade – Jaxon Call; 5th grade – Emma Chartrand; 6th grade – Abi Marohn; 7th grade – Maddie Hohlweck; and 8th grade- Lukas Halvorson.
