We Are Now Fine Free!

The Boulder Junction Public Library will no longer charge overdue fines for late returns, making them a completely Fine Free public library! The library was not charging overdue fines on children’s materials, but now has extended the fine waiver to the entire library collection. Lost or damaged items or overdue items from other libraries will still incur fines or replacement costs.

The library will also be waiving all existing fines for Boulder Junction library card holders as a way to start the new school year with a clean slate. A core mission of libraries is to provide equitable service to all residents in their communities. Now all residents – and visitors – will have improved access to materials and services.

Patrons will still receive notices when their items are overdue and will be billed for replacement for items that are more than 28 days overdue. However, once the items are returned, they will not incur any fines. Materials should still be returned on time so that other members of the community can check them out – public libraries are for sharing!
