October Art in the Library Exhibit
The Boulder Junction Public Library welcomes the public to view their October Art in the Library exhibit featuring Steve Rotter of Far Too North Outdoor Photography. The artwork will be on display during regular library hours.
Meet Steve and view his work at an Artist’s Reception to be held on Tuesday, October 21 from 2:30-4pm in the library.
As a photographer, Steve’s work is rooted in a deep connection to nature and the natural world. He is drawn to subjects that are timeless, raw, and alive—wildlife in its element, sweeping landscapes, the quiet stillness of night, and the ethereal dance of the northern lights. These moments are not just images to him—they are emotions, stories, and fleeting encounters that he strives to preserve and share.
Steve’s purpose is simple: to transport the viewer into the moment he experienced. Whether it’s the silent gaze of an animal, the vastness of a remote horizon, or the awe of standing under a sky lit by auroras, he aims to create an emotional bridge between the image and the observer. He shoots with feeling, and he believes that emotion is carried through in his work.
Photography has always been a part of Steve’s life. Growing up with a camera in his hand, he began his creative journey capturing the world around him through the lens. In high school, he found his passion for black and white film photography, an experience that laid the foundation for his artistic perspective.
However, like many things in life, his passion took a backseat for a time as he navigated the many twists and turns of adulthood. But as fate often does, it eventually brought him back to photography. In 2024, he decided to invest wholeheartedly in his hobby, and by the spring of 2025, he was printing and selling his work, fully immersed in the creative process once again.
This new chapter led to the birth of Far Too North Outdoor Photography, a project born out of a deep love for nature and a drive to share its beauty with others. Since then, the response has been overwhelming. Their images, each a snapshot of wild landscapes and quiet moments, have been met with incredible growth and positive feedback.
